Grass-fed tallow has been used by our ancestors for millennia! There is a reason a movement has begun to get back to our roots and learn to use what nature has already provided that no lab can reproduce. The difference is the concentrated amount of naturally occurring nutrients that are much more readily absorbed by the skin.
Sebum is the naturally occurring oil in our skin. In fact, the Latin word for tallow is sebum! Even more fascinating is the fact that grass-fed tallow contains almost the identical fatty acid profile as our own skin’s sebum, making tallow an ideal moisturizer that helps balance dry or even oily skin. This may be due to the concentrated amounts of skin nourishing vitamins, A, D, E and K helping to restore skin to a healthy glow.
Additionally, the leaf fat (suet) of purely grass-fed cattle also contains high concentrations of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). Likewise, grass-fed does not contain the rancid fatty acids that are present in a grain-fed cow. The consumption of CLA from grass-fed meat and dairy has a myriad of health benefits which are also derived from topical use. Tallow has been used for millennia to heal wounds, relieve dry skin, protect from the elements, and clinical studies of CLA have also been shown to reduce wrinkles.
